What we're learning this week

Math: 
comparing quantities using plus que, moins que et égal à (more than, less than and equal to); rote counting to 50; recognize, write, represent in drawing or with concrete objects the quantity represented by numbers 0-20; separating parts of whole: one half, one quarter (la moitié, un quart); recognizing symmetry in a drawing or other concrete representation - ongoing

Science: 
Differentiate between living and non-living; adaptation to winter/colder weather, concepts: hibernation, migration, etc. 

Social Studies: 
MLK and his role in advancing human rights 

Communication Arts: 
New handwriting and phonics books, personalized grâce à M. Quentin!

Reading/pre-reading skills: story elements: main characters, recall order of events in story, make predictions based in visual cues and prior knowledge; begin to recognize high frequency words in written text; recognize name and sound of letters taught to date. 

This week: Zz


Writing/pre-writing skills: using skills and letter sounds learned, write and illustrate a story with help of phonetic spelling and high frequency words 


Listening/oral communication skills: demonstrate appropriate behaviors to best listen; use 2 complete sentences to describe a scene tied to theme.
